Who should use IMG Mentors' services?Anyone in an international medical school, or a recent graduate from an international medical school who is planning to apply for an Internal Medicine Residency spot in the United States should consider using IMG Mentors to best showcase their application.
-
How will using IMG Mentors benefit me?Using IMG Mentors is a way to ensure you are putting your best application forward. Our expert mentors review hundreds of applications annually, including IMG applications and know exactly what it takes to secure an interview and to be a strong candidate.
-
How is IMG Mentors different from other resources out there?Unlike other services offered to IMGs, IMG Mentors is the only service whose mentors are sourced from Internal Medicine Residency Program Leadership. This gives you the advantage of having someone review and help you with your application, who reviews hundreds of applications a year. Some of the other services for IMGs use US faculty or residents to help with your applications, but unfortunately these resources don't always know what programs are looking for since they aren't on the inside.
-
When is the best time to use these services? Most of our services are best used before or during the summer prior to ERAS submission, however, some of our services will give you a better advantage if used early on in your medical training. We outline when each service is best used on our service list.
-
When should I reach out to book my service?Since our services are dependent on mentor availability, some of them are only offered in a limited quantity. Because of this, we recommend reaching out to us as soon as you know you want to book, so we can secure your spot and book in advance if needed.
-
Do you offer letter of recommendation writing services? No, we do not provide LOR writing services. We read through THOUSANDS of LORs each match season and when an applicant has paid for a LOR it is very apparent and can hurt your application. Instead, we can help provide guidance on how to ask for LORs and how to best guide your LOR writers so you can get strong letters even from international faculty.
-
How do I pay IMG Mentors?Payment options will be sent to you by email. You can pay for your services by credit card or direct deposit. A 30% deposit will have to be paid at the time of booking to secure your date and the remaining 70% will be due within a week of your first scheduled mentor session.
-
When will I know who my mentor is?Mentors are assigned at the time of booking. You mentor is selected based on the specialty you are interested in, your schedule availability, the service you select and our mentor's availability. A profile on your mentor will be sent to you in advance.
-
Can I request a specific mentor?Yes! If you know a mentor at IMG Mentors you would specifically like to work with you can request to work with them at the time of booking. Requests will be granted based on that mentor's schedule availability.
-
If the service is sold out, can I be added to a waitlist?Yes! Since our services depend on specific mentor availability many of our popular services tend to sell out during Match season. Each of these services have their own waitlist which you can add your name to on a first come basis. If you want to add your name to a waitlist send us an email.

Can I use this mentorship if I am not planning on applying to Internal MedicineRight now all of our expert mentors are faculty from Internal Medicine residency programs. A lot of our service including the LOR advice, personal statement review/package, and interview practice/package would be applicable regardless of which field you apply. However, since each specialty looks for different characteristics from their applicants we don't recommend using our ERAS application review or early career guidance packages if you are not applying for Internal Medicine. We plan to include other specialties in the near future.
